Rock Candy Mountain

Oh. My. God.

All the things that happened today...

Got up at the hellaciously early hour of 8am (went to bed at 2am), and dropped Ari off at the airport around 9:30. Went to the cellphone lot, wrote some of my paper for PfSA, and then took cat naps (kept waking up at the slightest sound) until H called me. During that time though, I observed a guy reading a book on the top of his car. My team :).

Went and picked her up, and headed back to Oly (after a quick stop at my house to pick up my mostly dry laundry). We talked on the road a lot about school, some about the weather, some about family... nice convo :) Got back to Oly, dropped my stuff at my place and changed, then headed to the guys place. Hung out there with H and Eric and Daniel and waited for Zach to get back from class. I finished my final paper and self eval for that class, and sent them in! Just three more essays to write, due by sundown on Sunday. He finally got back after we had watched most of some random movie about three guys trying to make a porno, and we all headed out for foood!

Drove to BBQ, I had the salad with meat as did H, Daniel and Zach had a full rack of ribs each, and Eric had a hamburger of some kind. Soooooo much food. But soooooo delicious! Wish I had had room for the pecan pie though. I am seriously craving it right now. The bibs man, the bibs!

AND THEN.

We went up Rock Candy Mountain, yes yes we did. Went to the lookout point... the view was SO much better than the last time I was there, and we stood there, and climbed tree stumps and planned treehouses, for I don't know how long.

It's supposed to get to 70 degrees tomorrow... WHOA. Then again, this afternoon became sunny and warm after a grey grey morning, so I will believe it when I see it :P.

We drove up to the ridge and Zach can hoot like a howler monkey, which we all failed to immitate. H can sound EXACTLY like a seagull, which is AWESOME. I can't scream that high, sadly :P. It's odd using that much of my lung capacity for me... I honestly wasn't sure that I could scream at all.

We drove down the mountain, around the mountain... fuckin' everywhere. BUT THEN.

I drove the car on this one road that was a ditch on one side, and STEEP, EMPTY hillside on the other. I'm talking, NOTHING was there. No trees, no ground, nothing to stop us. This was fine, until I had to turn around on this one-lane road. Had a ditch on one side, and cliff face on the other.

HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT GOD DAMN was that SCARY.

It wasn't helped by the semi-hysterical laughter coming out of Zach in the backseat that was making me laugh so hard I couldn't actually steer. But, obviously, we survived, and that adrenaline was an EPIC rush for a good long while.

But soon after that... after? I think it was after. We were driving along on this already somewhat sketchy road, when H goes "Watch-!" and my car goes into this giant pothole. This would have been ok, as the sides were slanted and the car went through it fine, except that there was a pothole ON EACH SIDE. So my car dipped, and seriously tore 6-8 inches off the rock pile that was inbetween the two holes.

The UNDERCARRIAGE of my car did this.

Scared me so bad... I was so worried that it had done something that would make us have to call for help or walk down the mountain. The car ran fine all the way home though, so I hope nothing huge or bad was done.

Anyway, we then chased the sun around the mountain, trying to get a good view of the sunset, and ended up back on the ridge.

Glorious, GLORIOUS sunset. I cannot write my mental pictures down, but I hope I can remember them later. The sun turning the sky into a rainbow, the hills and foothills becoming gradated shades of blue and grey... The clouds moving extremely fast.

All of it.

Then Eric took my keys and went back to the car with H and Daniel because they were all cold.

Zach and I followed eventually, because I at least didn't want to leave.

Got down the mountain fine, and drove back to campus. Went to the guys place and watched random TV and hung out for a few hours, and now I am in my own bed, and going to pass out. Have had 6 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours.

What a lovely day! And hopefully another fantastic one tomorrow :)

P.S. Might be going to Portland to see everyone anyways :)
